Tony and I have been taking weekend bike rides together. Our favorite loop involves a boat launch, a bird sanctuary, then across town to the airport for some plane spotting. Finally snacks at the park before heading for home. These are some snaps (and a fun video) from a few of these rides.

Specifically, when I was saying "Truck", what the people around me heard was "Fuck". Now, let the blame fall on their shoulders, for I was an innocent toddler just coming to grips with various consonants. Please forgive me: This is one of those dreaded home movies. It's terminally low on plot. I mean, it's six minutes of the same shot. But in it, Tony helps read a couple of books, shows us his excavator scoop, says certain toddler words that will probably only be in his vocabulary for a short time, and other adorable things that we coo over as he does them so we must Record and Preserve and Share Them.

This fall I took part in a ceremony of sorts. In 2004, a gentleman named Ed Barry (Woody) passed away after a battle with cancer. Since then, a group of motorcyclists have been passing a small red leather journal around the country, in a series of memorial rides for Woody. I was the 73rd rider to carry it. This was the handoff from the previous rider, Pat, and a ride around Napa and Sonoma counties with him.
